Last Tuesday evening I drove across the border to Seria to visit my photographer friend Jan Shim. As I was craving for Japanese food, we agreed to rendezvous at the popular Japanese eatery Kaizen Sushi.
As the eatery is situated on the 1st floor, lanterns are hung down from the staircase ceiling.
A shot at the sushi train with focus on the backdrop.
Jan ordered sashimi.
I ordered ebi tempura.
Tori teri don.
Another fav of mine – softshell crab tempura.
Salmon skin.
The top-notch Bruneian photographer was definitely enjoying the dinner, :p.
Overall we had a good time with Gavin joining us for drinks. What did we talk about throughout dinner? Photography, of course! :p
Gosh! I would love to have your ebi tempura! Probably the man behind the lens made the magic!

Thanks James! Always a treat to have you visit the oil town and chat over Japanese. As much as I tried not to start conversations about photography and at times would even go to length to avoid one, having three Canon bodies on the seat (we knew our manners) didn’t really help! In fact it was a license to break all dining rules and we shot quite a bit that evening in such a short time that the manager became quite concern about our “make yourself at home” attitude!

p.s. I thought the fried salmon skin was anti climax. I had ordered it thinking it’s as delicious as I last remembered having them @ Excapade but these ones were just not as good.

I did. I did. And then we finished the evening with coffee (Yes, I know … I’m supposed to be quitting. At least drinking less was on the agenda of the day’s end). š

Kaizen Sushi in Seria town is right next to Standard Chartered Bank. Can’t miss the red lanterns next to it.
