More good publicity for the joint effort community service at Permyjaya.

In today’s (June 23) newspaper The Borneo Post, a write-up on last Sunday’s free health screening was featured on page 14 in the Home Section.

Eye Specialist from the Miri General Hospital, Dr. Chieng Lee Ling was one of the two doctors who were present. In his interview with The Borneo Post, Dr. Chieng gave good tips on how to maintain good eyesight and also gave some statistics from the eye checks. You can read more on what Dr. Chieng said here.

Here are some more photos:

Yesterday I have had the priviledge to witness Christian love in action.

Seeing through the lens of my camera as a photographer.

My church Grace Methodist, in partnership with the Sarawak Society for the Blind (Miri branch), the Malaysia Diabetes Association (Miri branch) and the Miri General Hospital held a free health screening at Tabika Perpaduan Permyjaya.

The community service was initiated by my church.

The busiest room had to be this one – serving those who needed free eye wear.

The hours flew by quickly (I was there with my family members from 10 am to 5 pm) without us realizing. It also dawned on me that free health screening was a serious need in our own backyard.

I also found out that because of the generosity of Yang Low Ophthalmic Opticians and the Sarawak Society for the Blind (Miri) many people who came yesterday will receive free eye wear.

I want to applaud Miri General Hospital (the Specialist Doctors and nurses present), Sarawak Society for the Blind (Miri), the Malaysia Diabetes Association (Miri), Tabika Perpaduan Permyjaya (for use of venue), Nestle (sponsoring Milo drinks) and Mr. YK Yang of Yang Low Ophthalmic Opticians. Without their unselfish contribution and help, our community service couldn’t have been so successful.

But success is seldom the work of one but from many who work as a team; I also want to applaud all my church volunteers and those from Permyjaya Methodist Church, Life Methodist Church and SMCGC for their serving hearts and hands.

All Glory to God!
