Though my wife and I had to cut short our trip, we still managed to attend the opening session of SCAC Board of Laity – 9th Methodist Convention on June 3rd. Being first-time attendees to such a big Christian event, Roseline and I were naturally excited!
Here are some of my favourite images:
We entered the Sanctuary early so we could reserve seats for our church members from Miri.
Here is a snapshot of some the Grace Methodist Church members. All in all, there were 31 of us in attendance.
The pianist was ready.
The choir members were from the Youths’, Young Adults’, Ladies’ and Men’s Ministries. Roseline counted and noted that there were 67 wonderful singers!
Here’s an angle from the back.
From the balcony.
View from the entrance.
The giant screens showing the image of the Organizing Chairman Mr Hii Ching Chiong and his message. Mr Hii is also the current Lay Leader of SCAC.
Bishop Rev. Dr. Hwa Yung delivering his opening speech.
SCAC President Rev. Dr. Su Chii Ann welcoming the delegates.
The Intercession was lead by Masland’s very own Pastor Rev. Kong Chong Ling, flanked by two other Pastors.
The leaders were united in prayer. (L-R Bishop Rev. Dr. Hwa Yung, ex-Bishop Datuk Rev. Dr. Peter Chio, Rev. Dr. Su Chii Ann, Mr Hii Ching Chiong and Sibu Mayor Datuk Tiong Thai King).
So were the District Lay Leaders. We are proud and blessed that Miri District Lay Leader Mr Ting Kong Yu (L-2nd) is from our church.
The Intercession continued.
This is one of my favourites – the clock showed 11:30 with natural light entering through the skylight onto the praying crowd at the mezzanine floor. What a moment captured!
One for the album – Roseline, Bishop Rev. Dr. Hwa Yung and Winnie, wife of Rev. Dr. Tie King Tai.
Super! Thanks for sharing the God’s blessings through your lens!
